Course Content:
PART 1. PEDIATRIC AND ADOLESCENT BREAST IMAGING.
Pathologic breast conditions are rare in childhood and adolescence.
The spectrum of breast disease in this age group is different from that in adults; most lesions are benign and represent either normal breast tissue, cysts, or fibroadenomas.
Knowledge of the spectrum of pathologic conditions that affect the pediatric and adolescent breast allows the radiologist to play an important role in providing an age-appropriate differential diagnosis.
Part 2 BREAST DISORDERS IN PREGNANT AND LACTATING WOMEN.
The purpose of this lecture is to present imaging of normal changes in breast tissue under the hormonal influence as well as to demonstrate specific pathology associated with pregnancy and lactation.
With the increasing rates of later ages of childbearing we will likely be faced with more cases of pregnancy associated breast carcinoma. Lack of awareness is a major factor for the late diagnosis which is associated with poor prognosis. This lecture helps to gain a better understanding the reasons of miss pathology and to increase awareness of the expected changes which is imperative for all breast imagers.
This online ultrasound course is eligible for 3 CME Sonography Canada Credits.
